Prof. Dr. phil. Hüseyin İlker Çınar, was born in 1970 in Yozgat / Turkey. He has completed university studies in the field of theology at the Marmara University in Istanbul, followed by a six month studies in Damascus. In addition he has completed post – graduates studies in the fields of Islamic/Oriental studies and religious teachings at the Ruprecht-Karls-Universität in Heidelberg. In 2002 he accomplished his doctorate in the fields of Islamic studies and religious teachings at the University of Heidelberg. He later continiued as a lecturer at the Johan Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt/Main in “Islamic Law” and “History of Islam” (SS 2004 – SS 2005) for one year. In 2010 he gained his Postdoctoral thesis (habilitation) in the field of Islamic theology (Tafsir / Quran exegesis). He has made several researches in the Orient and Northern Africa. Prof. Çınar has authored numerous books, papers, and articles in the field of Islamic theology.
